esCarpade - Newcastle to Griffith

We have loaded some more photos from the past few days, sorry there are not more ,, but the Internet connection is not quite strong enough to upload the number of photos we have taken .

But its now time to pack our bags , tidy up the apartment and head off to get a good nights sleep , ready for a 6am start for breaky , then off to Griffith Primary to give out some presents , sing our esCarpade song and show off the brand new Camp Quality Puppets.

Off to Wagga Wagga on Wednesday for another fun filled day of driving , fun stops and esCarpade friendships.

I promise to load more photos (in order) and do a more detailed blog on events throughout the days on esCarpade. Thanks for your interest & support of us in raising much needed funds for a very worthwhile and inspiring organization.

So if laughter is the best medicine , Team Afro has had a huge dose of the greatest medicine over the past week.

TEAM AFRO ON THE ROAD- thursday 11th Oct

Well, with all good intentions of blogging everyday , time has just flown by since leaving Brisbane on Thursday at the not so bright time of 5am. Team Afro and 808 were sent off by Julie from CQ Brisabne office. Though may be scared after Graham (808) told his infamous penguin joke.

The plan was to meet Booger & Sharkmobile at Yatala BP (good for Booger as it has a BP addiction. After a stop for the first of many bacon & egg burgers for the week , coffee and some vandalism (sticker variety) from Booger Mobile fiend Damo, we were off again heading to Newcastle.

To skip through the various fuel and comfort stops , after leaving Macksville lunch stop. Booger radioed through to us and 808 to stop .... message Sharkies had been involved in an accident and the car was a write off.... Oh man . A very quick decision to turn back and check that Michael & Warren were Ok and make plans to get them & their gear Newcastle.
When 808 & Afro arrived at the scene, the guys were Ok apart from bruising and aches that would be a discomfort through out the week . Mike & Warren gathered their gear , dispersed it amongst the three other cars and we all sadly waved goodbye to the Sharkmobile which is having a holiday in Port MacQuarie for a while .

The rest of the trip to Newcastle was seemless , it was great to stop and settle for a day before getting truely stuck into esCarpade.

NINE DAYS TO GO

Well , the time has almost come for the guys and girl of TEAM AFRO to hit the road to Newcastle to begin the epic journey of esCARpade 2012.

The great news firstly is that with the support of all our sponsors , supporters and even those smaller donations ...WE DID IT ... we have raised over $20,000 for Camp Quality. WOO HOO , and as Julie from Brisbane Camp Quality HQ would say MEXICAN WAVE!!!!!!

Since the last blog post , the team has been busy doing more fundraising, at various places through Brisbane.

Below are some photos from where TEAM AFRO has been spotted.

Damian was our spokes person for the day and master raffle drawer. A great day was had by all and more money raised for Camp Quality and the esCARpade total.

Darren & Trina joined Julie form Brisbane CQ and her husband to man the registration tent at STREET COMMODORES - CRUISE FOR CHARITY 9 on Sunday 30/10/12.

With about 600 Commodores ready to hit the highway from Murrarie to Southport - the Police were needed to stop traffic and let the cruise through.

TEAM AFRO are not ready to stop fundraising yet - with Grill'd at Garden City supporting them through their month LOCAL MATTERS donation program. So if you would like to further support TEAM AFRO and Camp Quality - go buy a burger and put your bottle top in the TEAM AFRO jar and help us get the best donation possible.

So now it's time to pack our bags , check the car one last time, fuel up , tell work not to miss us and hit the road for Newcastle.

Stay tuned with everything Afro along the way via our blog or find us on Facebook.
